Dr. Bijan Ranjbar, head of Islamic Azad University, issued a statement commenting on the Assembly of Experts’ vote regarding Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.

In the message, Ranjbar described the development as a significant moment for the Iranian nation, emphasizing that the country now enjoys leadership characterized by faith, courage, and awareness of contemporary challenges.

“Praise be to God who deemed the noble Iranian nation worthy of benefiting from a legitimate religious government and raised the flag of the Islamic Republic system—this unparalleled legacy of Imam Khomeini—over the land of the proud Iranian people,” the statement read.

Ranjbar added that the gratitude of the Iranian people for this great blessing helped ensure its continuation under the leadership of Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei.

He also stated that the “red blood of that noble martyr” now serves as a guiding light for the future of the courageous Iranian nation, adding that the people, as the late leader had once noted, understand the lessons of Shiite tradition well.

According to the statement, the Assembly of Experts—elected by the people—made a “careful and worthy choice” by identifying Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the new Vali-e Faqih . Ranjbar described the decision as a source of reassurance for the grieving hearts of the Iranian people.

He emphasized that the Iranian nation today enjoys the blessing of a leader who is “faithful, revolutionary, people-oriented, courageous, capable in management and governance, aware of the times, knowledgeable about enemies, and simple in lifestyle.”

Speaking on behalf of a large segment of the academic community, Ranjbar said they remain committed to continuing the path by supporting and following the new religious leader. He added that they see no distinction between him, Imam Khomeini, and the late Imam Khamenei, and consider obedience to the leadership a clear religious and national duty consistent with Shiite teachings.

Ranjbar concluded by praying for success in following Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei and asking God to grant him health, dignity, and a long life.
