Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei criticized U.S. military moves, calling them an unwarranted act against a nation with an ancient civilization and proud people.

The statement came after Senator Warren shared her alarm over classified briefings on U.S. plans for war against Iran. Warren described the conflict as illegal, based on false premises, and lacking any immediate threat to the United States, while highlighting the absence of a clear strategy.

Baqaei used the senator’s own concerns to reinforce Iran’s stance, framing U.S. military action as both a violation of international law and an affront to Iran’s history and national pride.

Analysts note that the joint U.S.-Israeli military operation, which began on February 28, 2026, following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, ignored ongoing indirect negotiations.

In response, Iran conducted precise retaliatory strikes against Israeli positions and U.S. bases, citing its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and warned that any further escalation would be met with stronger retaliation.
