General Ahmad Vahidi Appointed New Commander of Iran’s IRGC
The appointments come in the wake of unprecedented attacks on Tehran, which claimed the lives of Iran’s top military and political leaders. Brigadier General Vahidi, a senior military figure with extensive experience in Iran’s defense forces, will now lead the IRGC during a critical period of national mourning and heightened regional tensions.
Major General Mohammad Pakpour, the former head of the IRGC, was martyred in the same aggression, marking a significant loss for Iran’s military command structure. The martyrdom of Supreme Leader Khamenei has also left the nation in shock, intensifying calls for national unity and resilience.
The Iranian leadership has emphasized that these strikes, carried out by U.S. and Israeli forces, will not go unanswered. Vahidi’s appointment signals Tehran’s determination to maintain military continuity and respond to threats while guiding the IRGC through one of its most challenging moments.
