Iran, Azerbaijan Pledge to Boost Bilateral Ties, Step Up Regional Cooperation
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation on Friday to review the state of bilateral relations and exchange views on recent regional developments.
During the call, the two diplomats revisited the understandings reached during Araghchi’s visit to Baku on December 7, 2024, underlining their mutual commitment to strengthening political ties and enhancing coordination on multilateral matters, especially those related to the Caucasus region.
Araghchi also addressed broader regional dynamics, warning of the risks posed by what he described as destabilizing U.S. interventions and the expansionist policies of the Zionist regime.
He emphasized that regional countries share a collective responsibility to safeguard peace and stability, and to ensure their territories are not exploited by external actors to undermine regional security.
