Iran and Qatar Confer on Regional Situation as Tehran Pushes De-escalation Diplomacy
Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), held a phone conversation on Wednesday with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, during which the two sides reviewed the latest regional developments and exchanged views on diplomatic pathways aimed at de-escalation and stability.
According to the discussions, both officials emphasized the importance of dialogue and political solutions in managing current regional challenges, reflecting a shared interest in preventing further escalation.
In a separate diplomatic engagement, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke by phone on Tuesday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The call focused on recent international and regional developments, as well as Iran’s internal situation.
President Pezeshkian outlined Tehran’s domestic approach, stressing the government’s commitment to maintaining unity and cohesion among Iran’s diverse ethnic and religious communities, while reinforcing national solidarity.
At the regional level, he said Iran seeks to deepen ties with neighboring and Muslim countries through a framework centered on Islamic brotherhood, good-neighborly relations, and expanded cooperation, signaling Tehran’s continued emphasis on diplomacy as a tool for regional engagement.
