Iranian Security Chief: Leaders of Recent Riots Identified or Detained
Speaking on Monday, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), said that the rioters were part of a coordinated effort orchestrated by foreign actors. He emphasized that security forces had successfully identified the leaders, with some already in custody, while noting that some participants had been misled.
Larijani described the rioters as an “urban quasi-terrorist group,” claiming that, months earlier, Zionist actors had planned to exploit networks they had established in Iran for a new campaign, which materialized in the recent unrest.
Highlighting the organized nature of the riots, Larijani added that weapons, including G3 rifles and pistols, were discovered, indicating that many participants were not spontaneous protesters but coordinated operatives. He stressed that the security forces had acted decisively to dismantle these structures and hold the leaders accountable.
