Iran Holds 20th Spot in Latest FIFA World Rankings

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iran’s national football team retained its 20th position in the latest FIFA World Ranking, as Asia’s top teams experienced mixed results, with Japan slipping slightly but remaining the continent’s highest-ranked side.

Released on Monday, the latest FIFA rankings saw Japan drop one place to 19th, while South Korea held steady at 22nd. Other Asian teams faced declines as Australia fell to 27th, Uzbekistan to 52nd, and Qatar to 56th, according to the Tehran Times.

Iraq remained unchanged at 58th, Saudi Arabia slipped to 61st, and Jordan and the United Arab Emirates stayed at 64th and 68th, respectively.

Some Asian nations, however, recorded modest gains. Oman moved up one spot to 78th, Syria rose two places to 84th, Tajikistan climbed to 100th, Kyrgyz Republic to 103rd, and India to 141st. The next edition of the FIFA Men’s World Ranking is scheduled for release on 1 April 2026.
