Iranian Army: Any Attack Will Be Met With Overwhelming Force
Speaking on Wednesday to students at the Army’s Command and Staff University, Major General Amir Hatami said that Iran considers the intensifying hostile discourse of its adversaries a serious threat and will not tolerate it without response. He emphasized that the Iranian armed forces would “cut off the hand” of anyone who dares to attack the country.
Hatami stated that Iran’s enemies are seeking to deprive the country of its capabilities and are working to undermine its national sources of power. He underscored that the Iranian people and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution constitute the two fundamental pillars and main sources of strength for the nation.
Referring to the current situation in Iran and recent unrest, the army chief noted that protests are a natural occurrence in any country. However, he described the rapid transformation of some protests into riots as unusual, asserting that such developments are the result of conspiracies orchestrated by Iran’s adversaries.
He added that the Iranian people’s labor and economic protests have no connection to the President of the United States or the Prime Minister of what he described as the “criminal Zionist entity.” Hatami praised the conduct of the Iranian people during these events, calling it a “ray of hope” and a bright point, and highlighted their high level of vigilance.
In another part of his remarks, Hatami said he could state with confidence that the current readiness of the Iranian armed forces far exceeds their level prior to the war. He warned that if an enemy commits any mistake, it will face a firm and decisive response.
Reiterating his warning, the Iranian army chief stressed that the Islamic Republic views the escalation of hostile rhetoric against the Iranian people as a threat and will not allow it to continue unchecked. He concluded by affirming that the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran will spare no effort in defending the country’s independence, territorial integrity, and political system.
