Iran to Use Capacity of Knowledge-Based Firms to Develop Solar Inverter Technology
The MoU was inked by Touraj Amrayee, the deputy for Development of Knowledge-Based Companies of the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, and Mohsen Tarztalab, the president of SATBA, and emphasizes using the capacity of knowledge-based companies in line with technology development and supporting first-time production.
Based on the MoU, with the participation of a consortium consisting of knowledge-based and technology companies active in the field of solar inverters, the development and production of this strategic equipment will be pursued within the country and the reduction of dependence on imports will be pursued. Also, within the framework of this agreement, SATBA committed to creating a market for the purchase of domestically produced inverters up to a maximum of 1,000 megawatts.
This cooperation includes developing national standards, facilitating licensing, strengthening reference laboratories, and accelerating implementation processes.
The main goal of this initiative is to empower the value chain of renewable energy equipment production, support domestic technology companies, and develop the country's solar industry.
Iranian Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Hossein Afshin had announced in September a significant increase in the income of knowledge-based companies in the past Persian calendar year (ended on March 20).
“The income of these companies has reached 1,833 trillion tomans (Iran's currency), which has increased by 60% compared to the previous year,” Afshin said.
Noting that the share of sales of knowledge-based products has increased by 40% last year compared to the previous year, he added, “This figure indicates an 81% share of knowledge-based products in the total sales of technological companies, which indicates the high share of these companies in the national economy.”
“Start-up companies, which constitute 67% of all knowledge-based companies, have a small share in the knowledge-based economy due to their nature,” Afshin said.
