Mostafa Mafi made the remarks during a visit by Head of the Iranian Space Agency Hassan Salarieh to the park.

“The Information and Communication Technology Park of Iran is ready to establish a specialized space center in cooperation with the Iranian Space Agency,” he said.

Mafi’s comments were made with the aim of increasing concentration on knowledge-based companies and synergy, and accelerating the growth of innovation in this field.

Salarieh’s visit was in line with the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Iranian Space Agency and the Information and Communication Technology Park aimed at assessing the capacities and areas for expanding technological cooperation and creating synergy among companies active in the space field.

Former Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology (ICT) Issa Zare’pour had announced in 2024 that Iran was constructing the largest space center of the West Asia region in its southeastern port city of Chabahar.

During a visit to Sistan and Balouchestan Province on Thursday, the ICT minister said the Chabahar Space Center, currently under construction, will become the largest space center in the West Asia region.

The first phase of the center, 56% of which has been completed, will come into operation in early February 2025, he said.

Zare’pour also unveiled plans for the first launch from the new base in the current Persian year, which will end on March 20, 2025.
