South Azadegan Oilfield’s Output Increases 3,000 bpd

Hamidreza Saqafi, the managing director of Petropars, the new well, brought online on September 8, brings the number of operational wells developed by Petropoilars at South Azadegan to 37.

The move is part of the Oil Ministry’s broader strategy to expand shared fields and improve the recovery rate of crude.

Saqafi the achievement underscored the role of Iranian expertise in advancing national energy projects.

“This new production capacity at South Azadegan is the result of the commitment and knowledge of Iranian specialists, and aligns with the ministry’s strategy to develop joint fields and boost national output,” he said.

Ebrahim Nari, the head of the South Azadegan development project, said the well was completed using advanced engineering methods and modern equipment, which would enhance production stability and improve reservoir conditions.

Earlier, in 2024, the production capacity of Iran's South Azadegan oilfield increased by 2,500 barrels per day (bpd) after putting into operation two new wells.

Head of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr announced in December 2023 the drilling of 60 new wells in the South Azadegan oilfield to boost production capacity.

He added that the South Azadegan field's production capacity has seen a significant increase with the addition of 60 new wells over the past year, reaching a current production level of 120,000 bpd.

Khojasteh Mehr pointed out that development plans have been finalized for all of the country’s joint fields, and programs are underway to sign a contract to develop two additional joint fields by March 20.
