“We are pursuing a very important project entitled Sustainability of the Tunnels of the Parvardeh Mine of Tabas,” Alireza Azizi, the caretaker of Islamic Azad University’s South Khorassan province, told ANA.

“When this project is completed, it will not only save a lot of wood and help the environment, but also have a very good economic benefit for the Islamic Azad University and will strengthen connection with industry in South Khorassan province,” he added.

“We are also planning good programs, in which we have two solar power plants under construction, and in the field of wastewater and pool water purification, they can also help,” Azizi said.

An official with Iran’s Mining and Mineral Industries Innovation Center announced in March that nearly 120 knowledge-based companies were active in the country’s mining sector.

“At present, it is assessed that 120 knowledge-based companies in areas related to mining and mineral industries are stationed at the country's science and technology parks,” said Majid Vafayee Fard, the head of the innovation department of Iran’s Mining and Mineral Industries Innovation Center.

He added that by establishing the Mining and Mineral Industries Science and Technology Park as the country's sixth institutional park, a suitable platform will be provided for increasing the number of knowledge-based companies in this field.

"One of the requirements for the development of capable knowledge-based and technological companies in the field of mining and mineral industries is the establishment of a specialized science and technology park in this field. With the efforts of the IMINO Innovation and Technology Center, the support of the Presidential Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy and the Iranian Mines and Mineral Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), knowledge-based companies with technological products and services related to mining industries and technologies in this field are supported," Vafayee said.
