An Iranian company has succeeded in locally producing the equipment maintenance system inside the country using AR technology.

“One of the basic challenges in optimizing and maintaining telecommunication sites is that it requires experienced experts to inspect these sites,” Elham Azhir, the research and development expert of the Iranian company said in an interview with ANA.

“Since experts with sufficient experience may not exist in every region in the country or they may not have the necessary skills to repair and do the maintenance of the equipment, the repair and maintenance of equipment based on AR system is used with the aim of providing a platform based on AR technology to simulate the equipment of telecommunications sites,” she said.

“In this product, the training of equipment installation and maintenance processes is done realistically. Also, this system allows making calls and hold video meetings with the purpose of cooperating and guiding each other in repairing equipment remotely using AR technology,” the researcher added.

“In the remote assistant part of this system, using AR technology, two people can be in contact, one of them be an expert and the other be a customer. This way, they will be able to communicate live and through video conferencing and show solutions and instructions step by step in the environment and guide the customer to solve the problem,” the company’s staff member said.

“Using the system, various instructions that are traditionally transmitted to the user on paper can be exercised using AR technology in a real environment. Therefore, in the fastest possible time and without causing misleading in the operation and the need for an expert to carry out some necessary technical measures at the site, the maintenance is done,” according to the researcher.

“Making video calls between the system users, creating user accounts and verifying the identity of system users, establishing bilateral audio and video meeting between users and holding online meetings, displaying the list of experts along with their status (available, busy, and offline), joining to the online meeting through the meeting link, adding new audience to the meeting, sending text messages and sharing images and documents in the meeting, compatibility with various devices and platforms, such as headsets, mobile phones, tablets and desktop computers,” Azhir said about some of the features of their AR-based product.

Augmented Reality, often referred to as AR, is a technology that overlays digital information onto the real world, blending the virtual and physical realms seamlessly. This technology has gained significant traction in recent years, with its applications expanding beyond the gaming industry into various sectors, including healthcare, education, and retail.

AR technology enables seamless communication regardless of physical boundaries. With AR-enabled devices, users can have real-time video conferencing, collaborative workspaces, and interactive sharing of information. This opens up endless possibilities for remote work, virtual meetings, and improved collaboration among teams.

AR has the potential to revolutionize telecommunication networks by providing users with an enriched and immersive experience. With the help of AR glasses or headsets, users can access information, communicate with others, and interact with their surroundings in a whole new way. Let's delve into the specific benefits and advantages that AR brings to the telecommunication industry.

AR technology enables telecommunication providers to offer remote assistance and troubleshooting, reducing the need for costly and time-consuming on-site visits.

AR allows customers to visualize and experience telecommunication products before making a purchase, leading to increased customer satisfaction and reduced returns.
