Iran’s Representatives Participate in Meeting of ISO’s Technical Committee on Nanotechnology

The meeting was held with the priority of settling challenges and advancing international projects. The Iranian experts participated in the meetings of the specialized working groups, and three international standards which are being developed under Iran’s leadership were discussed.

The standard on the subject of nano masks is one of the standards being developed under the leadership of Iran, which was presented in the meeting and after the ISO members voted, it was approved to be sent to the next stage of the standard development process.

Another standard presented under the responsibility of Iran on the topic of nanoemulsion could advance to the next stage after the project manager responded to the comments of experts and ISO members.

Also, the previous standard proposed by Iran on the subject of determining the characteristics of nano aggregates, which was previously compiled and published in the committee, was re-confirmed through a consensus vote of members.

The Iranian experts have also sent their comments and suggestions to the ISO organization during the review of the standards proposed by other countries, like the standards for graphene and two-dimensional materials, nanocodes, nanosensors, and nano product labeling.

During the last day of the meeting, the efforts made by Ali Beitollahi, the former head of Iran’s National Nano Standard Committee, were appreciated for his years of participation and activity in the development of international nanotechnology standards.

Annual meetings of the Technical Committee of Nanotechnologies are held to determine the policies and work plans of this committee for the development of international standards related to nanotechnology, review the projects and proposals presented by member countries, reach a global consensus on various issues and cooperate with international and regional organizations in the field of nanotechnology standards.
