Nano-Based Battery Expander Produced by Iranian Company
‘Nanoshimi Novin Iranian’ company has made the product which is a nanoparticle-modified lead acid battery expander, providing facilitated electron conduits to transfer between the poles of the battery.
The addition of nanoparticles to the battery expender has resulted in fast charge and discharge rate.
The expander can be used in automotive battery.
Earlier this year, a group of Iranian researchers at a start-up company had also achieved the technical know-how of producing nano-based environmentally friendly graphene batteries as a suitable alternative for existing storage devices.
Roozbeh Torki, the managing director of the start-up company, termed the graphene material a carbon structure in the shape of a hexagonal honeycomb which has been named as the miraculous material of the 21st century due to its unique properties, and said, “Our company has turned the graphene into one of the practical materials for making energy storage devices by making changes in its structure.”
“At present, we have produced prototypes of various sizes of graphene batteries. The negative and positive parts of the battery are made of graphene and we did not use materials like lithium, cobalt and nickel,” he added.
Torki described high electrical and thermal conductivity, coherent structure, flexibility, resistance to chemicals and a very large surface area of graphene as the advantages of this material for all types of energy storage devices, and said, “Therefore, we tried to acquire the know-how of making different types of graphene batteries.”
He said that using all-carbon active cathode and anode materials (graphene) free from lithium, cobalt and nickel, utilizing aqueous electrolyte and eliminating the risk of explosion and ignition, long lifespan of over 1,500 cycles, no need to special tools and technology for making batteries and being environmentally friendly and recyclable are among the advantages of graphene batteries.
