Iran Accuses IAEA of Double Standards Over Nuclear Attacks
Iran has accused the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of applying double standards and politicizing its activities, following what Tehran describes as the agency’s failure to condemn attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities in 2025 and 2026.
In a statement marking the 70th anniversary of the IAEA Statute, Iran called for the impartial implementation of the agency’s mandate, stronger protection of confidential information, and equal access to peaceful nuclear technology and international technical cooperation.
Tehran also highlighted the absence of comprehensive IAEA safeguards covering all Israeli nuclear activities, arguing that the disparity undermines the credibility and consistency of international nuclear non-proliferation efforts.
Iran urged the agency’s Board of Governors and Director General to resist political pressure, condemn attacks on peaceful nuclear installations, and ensure that all member states benefit fairly from the agency’s activities, particularly in nuclear science and technology.
The statement reaffirmed Iran’s support for professional safeguards and verification within the framework of its applicable legal obligations, while emphasizing that the agency’s credibility depends on impartiality, independence, and consistent adherence to its founding Statute.
