Iran Condemns US Envoy’s Remarks Backing “Greater Israel” Vision
The controversy erupted following an interview aired on Friday in which US Ambassador Mike Huckabee voiced support for Israel’s broader territorial ambitions in West Asia. When asked about the idea of Israeli expansion stretching “from the Nile to the Euphrates,” Huckabee responded, “It would be fine if they took it all.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei reacted on Sunday, describing the ambassador’s statements as a “blatant testament to American active complicity” in what he characterized as Israel’s expansionist wars and its policies toward Palestinians.
Baqaei said the remarks reflect what Tehran views as continued US backing for Israeli military actions in the region. He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran, in coordination with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), condemns what he called “extremist ideological rhetoric” that could further embolden Israel to continue its policies against Palestinians and its confrontational posture toward other regional states.
The comments have added to rising tensions in the region, where debates over territorial claims and ongoing conflicts remain highly sensitive and politically charged.
