Russian Cosmonauts Mark 176 Spacewalks, Majority on ISS

TEHRAN (ANA)- Russian cosmonauts have now completed a total of 176 spacewalks, with 75 conducted as part of the Russian program aboard the International Space Station (ISS), Roscosmos announced, highlighting their significant contribution to global extravehicular activities.

The Roscosmos State Space Corporation reported on Telegram that 171 of these spacewalks were carried out using Russian spacesuits, underscoring the nation’s technical expertise in extravehicular operations.

Globally, a total of 491 spacewalks have been conducted, involving astronauts and cosmonauts from 12 countries, including Russia/USSR, the United States, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, China, Italy, the UK, and the UAE.

Looking ahead, Russian cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikayev are scheduled to perform two additional spacewalks during their current ISS mission, planned for April and June, further contributing to ongoing research and maintenance operations aboard the orbiting laboratory.
