Motorcycle Durability Testing Technology Indigenized in Iran
“This technology brings huge economic savings to the industry by reducing the time and cost of tests and accurately identifying weak points, and the consumer can buy domestic motorcycles with more confidence,” Majid Arabi, a faculty member of the Islamic Azad University’s Yazd branch, told ANA.
“This device is an advanced motorcycle durability testing simulator that can simulate real and diverse road conditions from deserts and bumpy rural roads to mountain paths, urban traffic and even high speeds on the highway, in a fully controlled laboratory environment, he said, adding that the device can simulate the conditions of traveling at least 20,000 kilometers on a motorcycle, in situ and under full supervision.
“The most important capabilities of the ELAY-AMDT device include simulating all difficult driving conditions, testing acceleration, loading, component fatigue and engine performance at different speeds, and testing critical systems like brakes, clutch, gears and shock absorbers. It is also capable of testing both manual and automatic transmission motorcycles,” Arabi said.
In a relevant development in 2024, Iranian researchers at another knowledge-based company had also managed to indigenize the technology of designing and manufacturing propulsion systems used in electric motorcycles and drones.
“One of our company's products is brushless motor for electric bicycles which is used for propulsion and it is installed in the rear wheel of the bicycle, and since the know-how for its production has been indigenized, we can also use it in electric motorcycles, electric scooters and electric wheelchairs,” said Hadi Hosseinpour, the managing-director of the knowledge-based company.
Noting that his company also produces brushless motors for drones and quadcopters, he said, “All the stages of designing and manufacturing this product were completed by our experts.”
He added that the know-how for making brushless motors and drivers has been indigenized in his company in a way that they can design and build any motor with certain specifications for the customers.
