The ministry added that the rise in gas injection is part of a broader plan to strengthen the national gas network and secure energy supplies during the cold, high-demand months, shana reported.

This effort is among the ministry’s operational and development initiatives aimed at optimizing gas injection and withdrawal. In addition to improving resource efficiency, it plays a key role in stabilizing the network and maintaining consistent consumption.

The Sarajeh and Shourijeh fields are Iran’s two active gas storage facilities and are critical to the country’s energy supply, particularly in winter. Ongoing development programs and efforts to improve consumption management are expected to further enhance their role.

The Sarajeh field, located in Qom in central Iran, is the country’s first underground natural gas storage site. The Shourijeh facility, located in Sarakhs, was established to boost supply reliability in northeastern Iran.
