Pouyesh Pajouhan Asoo Company’s smart polymer fertilizer provides the materials needed by plants without polluting the soil.

Hossein Peyman, the company’s managing director, told ANA that the company is active in the field of producing smart polymer fertilizers.

It means that the fertilizer is placed inside a biodegradable polymer that can be decomposed.

Peyman is a faculty member of the Islamic Azad University, Ilam branch.

“In other words, when this polymer is placed in the environment, it decomposes after a certain period of time and returns to the cycle of nature,” he explained.

In fact, smart polymer fertilizers do not pollute the environment, he stressed.

He pointed out that fertilizers are loaded into the biodegradable polymer along with a metal nanoparticle required by the plant such as iron.

The advantage of this type of fertilizer is that it releases the materials slowly and over a long period of time, he said, adding that the polymer releases the fertilizer in nature when the weather and soil are wet.

This makes the fertilizer stay longer in the upper layers of the soil, he noted.

Normally, when fertilizer is sprayed in a space, it is washed by water and rain and transferred to the lower layers of the soil, which is not available to plants and only causes groundwater pollution, he highlighted.

The managing director of Pouyesh Pajouhan Asoo went on to say that the smart fertilizer is released slowly and is not washed away by rain.

“In this way, the fertilizer stays in the soil for a longer time and is available to the plant, and it is not necessary to apply fertilizer every year.”

This type of fertilizer is not destroyed even by plowing and remains in the upper layers. Therefore, not only a certain amount of fertilizer always remains in the upper layers of the soil, but also the underground water is not polluted, Peyman added.

Thanks to being biodegradable, the polymer decomposes after some time. So, not only is the soil not contaminated but it is also strengthened.

Peyman pointed out that the laboratory sample of this product has been prepared and if the required investment is made, the company will enter the production phase.
